Scottish Government launched a consultation to review the Scottish Pubs Code and Scottish Pubs Code Adjudicator on 3 September 2026. As part of the statutory review process included in the Tied Pubs (Scotland) Act 2021, this consultation seeks views on the effectiveness of the Scottish Pubs Code, just over a year since its commencement, and the Scottish Pubs Code Adjudicator in overseeing and enforcing the Code.
Over a twelve week period, this is an opportunity for tied pub tenants, pub-owning businesses and other interested stakeholders to give their feedback and to help inform the statutory review. Responses to the consultation can be made on the Scottish Government website.
The statutory review will see a report laid before the Scottish Parliament in 2027, reflecting on the current operation of the Code, any improvements needed, any guidance to the Adjudicator and future work and next steps for regulation in the tied pubs sector.
